She is the all-time winningest coach in NCAA basketball history of either a men's or women's team in any division. She served as the head coach emeritus of the Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team. Summitt comes close to making that point in her 2013 book, Sum It Up: A Thousand and Ninety-Eight Victories, a Couple of Irrelevant Losses, and a Life in Perspective, written with Sally.
